Thank you Bob, I already thought it was a 606 pair. I've seen washer and dryers from that age before on this side of the pond, but most of them were lower end models.

American appliances and cars were widely sold overhere in Europe, especially in the Netherlands. I think that is because of our big port Rotterdam, there was a lot of trade traffic between the USA and Europe and a lot went through Rotterdam. I remember neighbours had a GE toploader from the mid 50's (I think it was a 55 model) and an acquaintance grew up with a GE washer and dryer set at home. Bendix was also imported, the first Bendix washer entered the country in 1948.
The same for cars, a lot of American cars were imported from until the mid seventies IIRC. When the energy crisis in 1973 hit us hard, American cars became less popular, although I remember a few families who had late 70's models.
