My Mon had a center dial Maytag I Think it was A408, A410 I am not realy sure. It had Hot, warm, cold on the left side. Right side,(push buttons), regular, prema-press, delacaite. small, medeum,normal, large, The center dial ( timer ) Had 10 min. wash cycle, soak only, spin or damp dry, and a soak cycle that would wash a few min. soak, wash a few min,soak, and so on. Was just looking to see if anyone might have pic and the correct model #. My model # might not even be right. Also it had the light above the timmer. It was blue, and HEAVEY DUTY. Thats the machine I want, I think it might be still going today. Not That one But the same machine.

Sounds like and A407 that I used to have. Mine was built in 1972, looked like the ones in the photographs above but the gold band on the console was a light blue and it did have the indicator light above the time. I passed it along to another club member and no longer have a pic to post.

A408 looks like the one, but it only had the 3 water temp. And a light above the timmer, This could be it. ( Bellow the controll pannel it had a gold sticker left hand side in black letters heavey duty. I am probable looking for an oddball machine.

That's a pic of my A407 at my former home! Amazing that someone saved the picture. The black bands on the console are Dymo labels that the original owner had placed there. The one on the left read "PULL TO START" and the one on the right read "PUSH TO STOP". Needless to say, I removed the labels.

The A407: Maytag's "redheaded stepchild"?
Always noticed that the above chart only shows "x08" and "x06" models.
Were there ever any other "x07" designated models besides the A407? Never heard of an A607, or A807, etc.
If the A407 was made during both the "turquoise and pilot light" period and the "gold and no pilot light" period, it obviously was deemed viable enough as a separate model that it made the transition, but why is it never mentioned in any of the Maytag lit?

Maybe we should have a 2nd maytag month, and see how many brochures off all the different models we can get posted. My Mom bought a maytag in 1980. Still working as good the day they delivered it. Sure do miss the real maytags
It's a 407 or 408 in gold and not the blue band. It's a matched set.

The differences are that the 207 has the shiny chrome trim around the console whereas the 206 has the brushed, and the 207 has a turquoise Powerfin, whereas the 206 has the black, with the turquoise filter and dispenser cup. Both are standard capacity.
Maytag Set:
I'm thinking A407. There are only 3 temperature buttons, whereas models of the 08 series usually had 4.

Thanks for that info! I've tried to make some sort of sense out of how the classic Center Dial model numbers were assigned, and there are some things that would seem logical about how it was done, and some that leave me scratchin' my head.
