Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Sorry for the lousy pic, it was taken with my cell phone. I will try and get some better ones tomorrow. I just picked this up today. It is a Chambers dishwasher. It is coppertone brown. It has two spray arms. One for the lower rack and one for the upper. I'll post the money shot tomorrow.

What does D & M stand for? My mind is drawing a blank. It's used here all the time but for the life of me I can't remember it.

(My happy foot is eagerly waiting to find out the answer. It's anticipating a swift kick maneuver to rattle my brain.)

NICE!!

D&M had to have the biggest parts bin of anyone. I've never seen another badge-brander who could come up with a zillion unique looks like they did.

Love that applique along the control panel--chic! :-D

I couldn't help but notice that the right-most button on this has the Chambers equivalent of Magic Chef's "total magic wash."

Magic Chef's "total magic wash" Nate, I did notice that when I blew up the photo.

chambers!

This is a 1976 model. Almost the same as a caloric I had came across.
I didn't care for that loop design in the lower rack. The straight pins were better. But at least it is not the later design with a tower. Good Luck with it!

What company ended up with D&M? I think with was WCI. Chambers, Kelvinator, Kenmore,Roper and others. WCI must of salivated at the thought of that acquisiton. With their DW involved in the branding of so many other brands. alr

D&M Dishwashers

They made DWs with over 30 different brands names over the years but never one put their own name on one { smart move } I think if they had tried to sell DWs as a stand alone brand it would have sunk fast, but by making them for many others they just ruined part of many appliance brands reputations, LOL.

D&M was purchased by WCI, and they continued to build modified style D&M designs for a number of years, thankfully there does not seem to be any D&M influence remaining in any DWs that are built by Frigidaire today.

Any chance of a close up pic of the cycle buttons?
My mom had the same dishwasher that was branded, Admiral. The silverware basket was like a GE in the middle of the bottom rack. I think ours had the same chip in the same place in the back of the tub.
It looks like one of the cycles has a no heat dry? I wish ours had no heat. It could really melt plastic even on the top rack.
The cycles on ours were rinse and hold, super sani wash, double wash, short sani wash, pots and pans and china and crystal.
The china and crystal cycle was just the last two rinses of any cycle and you added detergent to the first rinse. The wash/rinse was 2 minutes long followed by a 5 minute rinse. It was pretty useless as far as cleaning unless you rinsed everything first. Still loved that dishwasher.
