Yes, the author of two great Appliance Books: IF IT DOESN'T WORK, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and (My Favorite!) HOW TO BUY MAJOR HOME APPLIANCES...

He, I thought was considered "an appliance expert" in his time...

I'm still trying to figure out ("The Zen?" of) how many households would each have ONE of each of "the Six Basic Appliances" he recommends: A refrigerator, range (or built-in cooktop/oven combination), dishwasher, washer, dryer, food freezer... And what model/configuration & the four basic colors (white, avocado, copper, harvest gold) that each household would have... (8 to 24 combinations, or more, possible!)

Anyone have any biographical info on him? When was he born? Is he still alive?

Same goes for Betty Furness (supposedly another "Appliance Expert Figure", Klamkin dedicates his books to)...

I've read his books

and found them interesting and informative, but have no further information about him.

He had some great dish on Sears' practices at the time, however.

Have you tried doing some web searching yourself on these two individuals? Betty has been deceased for a number of years.
