Anyone who has one of these, could you please take a picture of what's under the hood, so to speak? Rich pulled this one out to test it, and it doesn't seem to come to a proper perking temperature. Upon opening the bottom, he found a brass piece that looks like it was at one time one, but is now two (possibly soldered atsome point). I've circled the area I suspect it came from in a closer pic, but don't know. Can you help? The model number is 17088.

Sorry I cant help but just wanted to say what a fantastic Art Deco perc you have, never seen one that good I do hope you get it fixed
 
Thermal fuse----

The loose part is a thermal fuse. If the unit over heats, most likley plugged in without water, the solder melts and breaks the circuit to the heater. I would try to resolder the 2 parts back together and reinstall them.
 
Thanks for the cudos, Mike, and thanks, Jeff, for the advice. I'm sure I can solder the two back together, but only one piece has a dimple in it to fit into the hole in the prong. Am I missing something??

So Fred Astair and Ginger Rodgers! Do you have an OHM meter? If you dont,then do you have a buddy that could check it for you to make sure there are no shorts in it.This could save you alot of time.Look to see underneath what the watts are pulling,you may can rig a regular fuse between those contacts.I have about six of those old types but they have a circle on the bottom plate to remove instead of taking it apart like yours,when you get it fixed and you want to use it,it will not shut down by it self you have to time your coffee percolation yourself!
