This is the first machine that I've seen at this age that has a jetcone instead of a three ring agitator

I was wondering myself if the agitator is original to that model.

Friends of my parents had a WI-59 (1959 Imperial Washer). They replaced the original 3-ring pulsator with one of these Jetcones. It freaked me out the first time I id laundry at their house after it was installed. She had it done to reduce the tangling.

JET CONE AGITATOR

The jet cone agitator was definitely added.  The original to the '55 was a total black 2 ring pulsator.

My Grandmother had this washer.
