just seen this posting....
i just checked out the listing and it says in there that these are yellow. but in the pictures, they look more like the avocado green?? what do you guys think??
and can you please tell me the options of a 606?? i see that it does have the regular & gentle speeds. so, i'm assuming this is a 2-speed? correct me if i'm wrong. and also, being that there are the only 3 temperature selections, am i right in thinking that this washer is a cold rinse only?? and is the "red" side of the timer control a permanent press was cycle or a soak cycle??
i'll be waiting to hear back from anyone who can tell me these details.

On my 3 temp set, they were hot/warm, warm/cold, and cold/cold.. I expect this model to be the same...

cycles are Perm Press & Regular and possibly a prewash or soak. Regular and gentle speeds. Small, Medium, Large, Ex Large Water levels. Hot/Warm; Warm/Cold; and Cold/Cold. All 06 Electronic control dryers used an all-fabric temperature (read this as meaning low/delicate). Control dial cycles were regular (3-5 minute cool down); Perm Press (about an 8-10 minute cool down and the moisture sensor was equivalent to extra dry--this is cycle you used to dry extra heavy things too. The end of cycle chime chimed several times during the cool down on Regular it chimed just as the dryer shut off); Damp Dry and Air Fluff.

Create a folder and save pictures of Maytags to it. You could give each photo a name based on the model number (like 'A806.jpg), or if you have the computer skills, you could also put the model numbers right on the photo.
Another way to do it would be a Pinterest account, where you can save and label photos of interest to you.
If you have materials to refer to, it all becomes much clearer.

This is a somewhat rare set set in that it is a 606 washer with the sun-glow trim and aluminum cycle dial paired WITH a Halo of heat 606 dryer. That puts production of the pair between about March of 1975 and September of 1975.

is "halo of heat" the dryer with no drum light? i know on one thread someone posted a picture of 2 versions of the maytag dryers. one was halo of heat and i think the other one was called stream of heat, or something like that??

Halo versus stream
Halo Of Heat is the small door, small drum machine. Referred to on this website often as HOH. Really really small drum.
Stream of Heat has a much larger door and much larger drum, though the cabinet is almost exactly as big.

Hippiedoll, "Halo of heat machines" have a lint screen in the center of the drum you have to stoop and reach in and pull it out. The "big load" or "stream of heat" machnines have the filter up front on the left hand side. You can see the filter in reply #14. The "SOH" filter is much easier to reach, for a daily driver machine.
