He has 5 Flairs, including a matching coppertone stove/fridge, a matching pink GMFR fridge and stove, an avocado 1-18 set, Leonard stove and freezer and more. I am going back, more pictures to follow. It was wild walking into all this.
A squealing noise on the Frigidaire bottom freezer is probably worn bushings on the freezer fan motor that pulls cold air from the evaporator located below the freezer floor and then pushes it up into the refrigerator. On my '67 it was located in the center of the back wall of the freezer, not hard to get to but you did have to remove a number of plastic panels. The motor itself was a little square thing.
The squealing can be remedied at least for awhile by pouring a little oil onto the motor shaft. After some experimentation I ended out using Citroen LHM hydraulic fluid because I had it laying around. It's pretty similar to Dexron ATF but thickens up less with cold temperatures. The best fix is undoubtedly a new fan motor but mine worked for nearly 20 years with a few oilings.
I was able to fix the flair, he has plenty of spare parts. He actually got that face plate for his Flair from Electrolux? or whoever owns the rights to the part. He paid $600 for 2. He had been on AW but is not a member (yet).
The fridge does have 2 evaporators, and hopefully the squealing sound is just a fan.
Like Hans said, these pre-1963 fridges have a cold plate behind the refrigerator wall and two fans. The one in the fridge cycles with it's own thermostat while the one in the freezer cycles with the compressor.
Having no recall of seeing this thread before, I was about to create an exuberant entry about the 1960 Kenmore Model 80 dryer pictured in the original post. Imagine my surprise at seeing Reply #10 above. #seniormoment
