Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anybody knew if the Cheer Free and Clear cleaned clothes just as well as the Cheer Colorgaurd? I know they claim that it just has no dyes and perfumes, but sometimes the additives make the difference...at least with some things. Also, I was wondering if anyone knew if the Cheer Colorgaurd powder detergent fades clothes like many of the other brands of detergents? I really noticed bad fading with Arm and Hammer and Tide powdered detergents even though they claim to be safe for colors. Does the Cheer Powder fade clothes in comparison to its liquid counterpart? Then one more thing, does Cheer Dark protect clothes from fading better than the Colorgaurd or is it basically the same thing with a different bottle and scent?

Thank you very much!

I think...

IRRC, all variations of Cheer Liquid (including the Dark Liquid) contains OB's. However, if one recalls correctly, the Powder Formula contains a limited amount of Sodium Percarbonate (a form of oxygen bleach) supposedly in such a low dose that it shouldn't have any color fading, or effect, but, will kill off any lingering Chlorine found in traditional tap water, preventing fading, and doesn't contain color fading OB's.

One does have to remember, all Detergents pretty much carry out the same process. They Clean Clothes, and they Damage Clothes. All detergents & washing processes damage clothes. I don't care how "gentle" or "safe" they advertise it as, they all damage clothes. While some Detergents do better than others, there always going to be damage, especially overtime with repeated washing's.

Imho, I think Tide Total Care or Persil, is probably the best detergents for long term color care, and garment longevity. However, the Cheer has always been advertised as a safe, brilliant clean for Colors, and I do know quite a few swear by the stuff. I'd stay away from any of the Liquid Variations, and stick with Powder. Perhaps, washing really dark items in Cold Water, would also help.
