Cheese warmer

I have a cheese warmer that I bought at a yard sale some time ago because I thought it was interesting. The lady at the sale told me you just drop the can of cheese in it to warm it up. But looking online it seems that you can get a round container that would fit as well? Mine is missing any sort of container and there is no lid or dispenser, which it appears the spout is supposed to be heated.

Are these meant to be water bath or direct contact? Can it be used for other things like chili or fudge? It has an on/off switch and the knob has settings 1-9. It was made by A.P. Wyott Foodservice Company.

Is the case square or round? The A.P. Wyott spec sheet says the square warmer will accommodate a #10 can or a 4 qt. round inset pan. You can buy the pans & the type of cover you want for it (solid, notched, hinged or pump).

If the case is round, those are usually either 7 or 11 qt.

Pics, as requested. Front, back and a look down the well. The stainless polished up well with Mother's Mag Polish. I need to clean the well and the back, it looks like it has lime residue which would indicate they used it with water. The bottom of the well does not get hot, it heats from the sides only. I guess it would be sort of a hot water jacket then.

Thanks for the information. The part on the front looks like it's meant to use with a pump. But I guess a round cover would work too. I saw some containers and lids for a few bucks on a website, I may order some to try it out.
