I saw this on Craigslist and thought of several people in the Chicago area that might be able to (and want to) help this student out with her paper on people who collect things.
POST:
HI, I am pursuing a research project on collectors and their collections with the Human Development program at the University of Chicago. My goal is to understand the personal meaning collecting has to the people who practice it. To get at what collecting means in the context of a person's life, I usually meet with my interviewees at least six times (once a week, usually between 30 and 45 minutes each), and proceed to inquire about all aspects of their life, including their collecting. I understand that the time committment might be a deterrent to some, but I've found that many people enjoy the opportunity to reflect on and discuss their lives and are actually sad when our sessions end. Interviews, by the way, are conducted in interviewees homes, and I always give participants the option of reading the finished paper. I would love it and be very grateful if you would help me out on this project! Thank you, and I hope to hear from you! Yours, Katie J
