The apples to stand overnight till cold ,then mix your dough..
Cream well, 1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
add 1/2 cup molasses,beat well
sift together
4 cups unsifted all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
add to creamed mixture,
add 1/2 cup milk, mix well
refrigerate dough 2 hours at least,divide into 8 portions,pat each into a greased 9 inch cake pan,bake at 350 for 10 to 12 min,cool on wire racks, when cool, stack layers using dried apples as filling, let set in refrigerator at least 3 days, this is a real old fashioned Southern desert, now with the rest of the apples im going to make fried pies...apple turnovers to everyone North of us!
