What a find!
I don't know a lot about gas ranges, but wow! That one looks like a million bucks! Six burners, two ovens, and all lit up - very cool indeed! So, when do you want us to drop by?? LOL!

I looked and looked for an O&M range around here when I was going through my "gassy" stage in ranges. None to be found, I nearly drove to Oklahoma to get one! Can you post some pictures of the oven solenoid? Would love to see that.
I love that people put gargantuan prices on old ranges without any concept whatsoever of what it takes to make them look, operate and sell like the pictures they see "on antique stove websites". Having your own private Santa is the best way to get into the ranges! Congrats on a stunning piece of history - and a "CP" approved one as well!

I sent her the link as she just got a O&M range which is NOT in that nice of condition and she said, "That girl's got my stove!" She then grumbled/mumbled something about, that's the way the top of mine is SUPPOSED to look!

O & M's all over the place!
Check out This Old House Magazine, October 2009, pages 25-28. There is a fire-engine red restored 1945 O&M range with a door window on the right side oven. Hot stuff!

Thank you all for your kind words. My finding the O&M is just starting to sink in...
Ahhh, the elusive, extremely rare and usually overpriced red O&M. They are just to die for but try to find one without having to sell one's 'jewels' to afford it. You hit it right on the head, Gansky. People see those ranges and immediately think they've hit the lottery for what they ask for it. Professionally restored ranges go for big bucks and so EVERYONE who owns one thinks they'll get the same buckage for their unrestored one. I guess the market will bear what people are willing to spend...
It does kinda help being in the business. I do get more opportunities to find/obtain vintage appliances since I can find them at the customer's house before anyone else and get my foot in the door first. That's how I got my 1926 Magic Chef range even tho I had to wait about 6-7 years before the owner came around.
Paul, after seeing you redo your kitchen around the GE Kitchen Center in that awesome video, I'm starting to dream of building a retro kitchen around one of my ranges. One big decision would be WHICH one, the O&M or the Magic Chef?

Even if you don't keep this it certainly will make somebody very happy. Quite a stunning range, and I imagine the OM made quite a statement when the housewife invited the neighborhood over to see it when new!
