Christmas dinner was nothing special this year. In fact embarrassingly simple and low effort. We decided to just relax and enjoy the comforts of home taking a break from cooking, cleaning, stress, ect. Enjoying the lights outside some old comfort movies.

Dinner was fried eggs with cheese, orange walnut couscous, honey roasted ham, black forest ham, fried onion rings, Tabasco, olive bread and sparkling apply cherry blush cider. Desert was chocolate cake.

What did other have? Complex or simple I am curious what other made for Christmas.
 
Ours was also simpler this year. Charlies (cod) chowder recipe from the Chuck Muir original seafood restaurants, and cold cuts and cheese sandwiches.
Italian genoa, spicy capriccola, corned beef and turkey, cheddar and swiss. Homemade cookies
Last evening the 26th., cheese tortellini with strip steak strips in a Philly style cheese sauce with green peppers and onions.

That all sounds so yummy!

We also got genoa and spicy capriccola for the crackers, in addition to assorted cheeses. We ordered cheese tortellini with fetta, cuccumber, and olives in an olive oil dressing from the store. Creamy macaroni salad.

I guess it must be the weather this year where you want to enjoy those simple comforts.
 
Chet, that sounds delicious! We also had store deli macaroni and potato salad. Our big family party was Dec 13th. We made homemade Italian wedding soup, and pasta fagioli. My brother and sister in law hosted, and order the best in town pizza's. Mom made antipasto salad.
My sisters are coming over tomorrow, with two nieces and one nephew. 9 of us. We're making ravioli lasagna with ground sirloin, fennel Italian sausage, and Raio's and Mids sauces combined. Mid's is made in Navarre Ohio and the two replicate my grandmothers sauce. I actually like the Mid's alone. We bought gourmet ravioli from an Italian market. Their sauce is even more expensive than Rao's.
 
I wish I could've been there, sounds like the food was great.

Speaking of Rao's I just got their pizza to try. I am excited to try the Rao's. We always buy a bunch of frozen pizzas to have on standby. It is one of my ultimate feel good foods.

My absolute favorite right now are crispy jalapeno bites. Cream cheese and fresh green peppers in a crispy crust. Deep fried of course, nothing else.


Now that the fridge is defrosting again the Taylor dips down to -20*F. Not sure if that truly is the exact temperature, but its getting nice and cold in the freezer to keep things well preserved.
