paul,

I realy enjoyed that so thankyou for posting it. I realy enjoyed reading about the aquamatic 1 and its price was reasonable well cheaper than mine £300 odd.

thanks

Chris.

The £166.42 the Aquamatic cost when this article was published (1976 I'm guessing?) would be the same as paying £934.21 today with inflation.

Certainly not cheaper! Even the cheapest machine there (the Indesit L5, which had a 380rpm max spin speed I believe) which cost £124.30 back then would cost £697.77 now.

That's why machines back then were so much better made than they are now, you paid Miele prices for a basic Indesit.

Interesting that the Zanussi top loader's spin performance left clothes with 100% water retention, yet they say it spun! Does anyone know what the spin speed woul have been?

That Philips is a beaut though, congrats! It's always especially nice to find a childhood machine!

Matt
