GE vintage double oven stove - avocado green - $120 (Apalach

We used and enjoyed this double oven for many years before recently updating our kitchen and appliances. The small oven works only in the broiler function but I'm sure it could be fixed. The big oven worked great last time we used it before the update. It needs some cleaning, it's been stored in the garage for the last 2 years or so. Could meet some place locally.

Metal Kitchen Cabinets

Here's a good one or should I say a warning about Craigslist, The Metal Kitchen Cabinets on this thread located in Glens Falls, I called spoke to them This past Sunday asking if they were still for sale and was told yes, I said I would like to buy them, would send the bank check out Monday and pick them up this weekend. I got a call Tues said they had been sold, I called them back and said " I was told they were still for sale and sent the check to you on Monday as I said I was going to " I had a call Weds saying my check was received but someone came on Tues offered them more money and they were gone !!!! He proceeded to tell me he would refund my money and to call him.. I'm going to call tomorrow but have not decided whether to lay into him or just let it go.... Pretty rotten thing to do in my opinion......

That's a horrible way to conduct business and is massively unprofessional. We've sold a number of things on CL and have been upfront with potential buyers. We had a few Federal style dining room pieces from the 40s and had to tell potential buyers that there were people ahead of them. CL makes it so easy to sell; it's infuriating when sellers don't pull their ads when the item has sold. In this case, the seller should have pulled the ad as soon as you said you were mailing the check.

Metal Kitchen Cabinets

Yes I agree and my blood is still boiling over the way it was handled, individuals like this make everyone look bad on Craigslist. I've decided I will be very nice but will express my disappointment on the way this was handled, and will finish it with " How would you like someone doing this to you" !!!!!

Get your money first!

I wouldn't say anything until you have your money in your hands!  Then I'd let him have it.  That's just wrong.  The least they could have done is called you and asked if you wanted to make a counter bid.

Unfortunately, these things do happen.  At least with eBay you have some protection but with Craigslist we have none.

Counter Bid

I agree.. the least they could have done was called me... as of last Sunday no one had contacted them regarding the cabinets this person contacted them Tues offered more money and they sold him the cabinets.... As you said it happens, I know it does as unfortunate as it is, I'm fine with not getting them what bothers me is the fact the seller had such little regard for a commitment made prior, and not having the decency to send me a counter offer... I had a truck lined up and cancelled a commitment Sat to pick them up..... I just want other members to be careful, so as to avoid this happening to anyone else...

Risky Business,

Not saying someone is running a racket...but though It is done, and I've accepted a check for something I sold on Craigslist, it's just risky to send funds. And, I think Craigslist 's guidelines mention that local cash and pickup, only. But, I accepted a check, waited two weeks to insure the funds did not become the insufficient type netting me a big goose egg. All worked out, but you're really taking chances sending funds first...I'm hoping they are honest. The option to accept more for the sale item is ok, until this happens when face to face transactions aren't possible.

Arris- did you tell your bank or credit union to cancel the check after he said it was sold to someone else or...? Hope this gets an honest return of funds.

Phil
