Hello all,

I recently received a phone call from a good friend that asked if we were interested in a old Kenmore dryer... I told him that we were interested, and to hold on to it if he could. Well this weekend we finally got around to seeing this new member of our collection, here are the two pictures that i snapped of it quickly. I was informed that the reason why it was not in use anymore is that the timer is not functioning anymore, any thoughts ? The dryer looks fairly good shape, just needs a cleaning... I am hoping that it is worth saving, will find out more when we get it home.

Hope that everyone had a good weekend,

Mike

Nice Kenmore Dryer

Of the models called "Frog Eye", not fully sure about, but I think they did run just thanks to  a simple timer shutting power to the heat for cool tumble in the end  and on the left there is the heat selector...
If so theorically you might just need to fix  or have fixed the timer thing, so it's easier if it is the "simple" mechanism timer I assume it is, compared to what would be an Auto cycle one...
Dont take it for sure, anyway I think it is nothing you can't fix.
Someone more aware will surely come over...

Congrats

Sorry, I thought it was their name......
I could read several times about these machines being called frog eye also, and also bulls eye.

To me sounds more like the knobs in this model resembles cow or bull eyes indeed, while the other models you tell looks like frog eyes being more big and darker...
But, having read several times about these being called Frog eye also thought it was the correct name and they were the same thing:

Some examples:

So what actually is a frog eye what is not?
Also what is a bulls eye?
Thanks.

Frogeye!

The console has a almost like an eyelid over the round dial, from the top it looks like a frog eye.The earlier 52 and under were just simple boxes with knobs on the front of each corner.Flat top! The Whirlpool of that era was nicer,it had a console or raised back with a knob at each corner and a large nameplate across the front.I think it was yesterdays Pic of the Day,was a 1949 Whirlpool.Nice machines. Thanks Bobby
