I have only seen two of these on Ebay, well now three in years of searching. This is one of the best disposer's that were ever made.I stumbled on it and bought it within a hour of him posting it.I have never had one like this New in box with everything just opened for the Pics..I think this 1988-89 model year,I am not sure when they went with I.S.E. and slapped there name on them and as of now there 300 bucks for the 1 H.P. and it's no different than the half price Kenmore.. Here is some Pics of it..

More Pics..Love that massive cast grind ring..Now days you get a stamped sheet of Stainless Steel if your lucky or Galvanized if your not.. It has two round undercutter's that are below the fly wheel..These disposer's only came with a 1/2 H.P. motor but works great....

Congratulations on such a nice find! That baby should last a long, long time. My 1/2 HP rebadged Whirlpool from ISE works well now, but I wonder how much longer it will last. Not sure what I'd replace it with, either....

I've got a maytag in the attic that we used for 15 years or so and I'm still using it's twin that I replaced it with. Just pop a new shredder ring in from time to time and I'm good to go for another decade. It's great you found one NIB.

Where do you get a grind ring for it Matt?I have seen about a few Web-sites that list them but on the ones I have seen I could not be sure it was for this type of Machine or a I.S.E. one.The sellers where not much on telling you what you get or a Pic of it..They don't wear out much with floating hammers that don't even scratch or touch the flywheel..That Rubber boot shaft under the flywheel with the carbon ring is the most delicate part but I just use high temp silicon to cover it up. They don't make that part at all anymore..

What's the model number on that one? I've only seen them in harvest gold before, which is the color our FC5 was at the other house. Ours also came in an older box without the blue graphics.

It's a F-C-6 model..I have never seen one look like that either my other two are harvest gold also.I have the Fc-10 and the Fb-20 the batch feed Maytag is the biggest disposer I have EVER seen for a home disposer HUGE machine but that is the extra insulation on that one.I think this one was close to the last year Maytag made their own.I think 1989 is the last year from what I can gather from my repair manual..

Yeah, I've never heard of model FC6, and did see a faded designation after taking a closer look at the box on yours.

If it's pre-1994, I think it's still a true Maytag. Check out the thread on Maytag dishwashers over in the pink section (#29724). There are some pix and comments there on disposals as well.

My Batch feed is older than I thought, thanks for the link I always wondered why my Fb-20 was different from my Fc-10 the Flywheel part of it.I guess it is from the early 70s and the Fc-10 is from the 80s... Yea my new one is a real Maytag. I.S.E. just used there normal set-up when they started making them. The pics in my Repair manual looks like any Kenmore you would pick up today.. I didn't know they made them all the way till 94 though...

It's been a while as i said I have 2, one branded Mayag and the other Jenn-Aire, both identical. The first time I replaced the shredder ring on the original I used the Maytag sealant, but on the latter the gasket was still good, or I bought one, don't recall, but it was not an issue. I honestly don't recall where I got it from, might have been from Serval local parts outlet or online.

We remodeled our kitchen at the previous house in 1990. We (in retrospect, foolishly) purchased a Jenn-Air dual fuel range and ended up with literature on other Jenn-Air products, including the disposal that looked exactly like our FC5 except it was purple. Also, the van for the authorized repair shop that did warranty work on the range listed both Jenn-Air and Maytag, and I think one other make.

I don't know how long this relationship lasted, or if Jenn-Air is now Jenn-Pool or what. I steer clear of them, but would certainly go after a Jen-Tag disposer. Clearly, Maytag didn't make the Jenn-Air stoves, but I presume a contract existed between the two makes for certain items sporting a Jenn-Air badge.

Perhaps John L. and other experts can provide chronology and details.

Maytag used the same coding on their disposers as they did with their washers/dryers. Post up the serial #'s of the disposers and we'll decode them for you.
