Thanks! That's really helpful. That flat tube has been the culprit at times. Wife overfills the thing on the bottom rack, something hooks it and it gets pulled off where it attaches to the upper wash arm and then obviously doesn't work. Haven't actually checked out if it leaks or is cracked, which might explain why it slides out of place so easily. Thanks. I took the lower wash arm out and cleaned the filter out, then sent a load of vinegar through the machine. We inherited this machine last year, seemed like that filter hadn't been cleaned in 30 years. Whole machine looks a lot cleaner now, hopefully runs better too. I'm not sure if there's a burping noise, doesn't ring any bells but there was a grinding noise for a while that seems to have subsided. Maybe something was stuck being ground down slowly. Next step would be to replace that check valve. I did pull that lower panel off earlier this morning.
