Although listed as being 1959 this English Electric cooker was around from approximately 1955 - there is even a version of it in the Science Museum. I cannot help wonder if this was an inspiration of the Flair as it predates it by quite a few years - not nearly as sophisticated though. My understanding was the cupboard underneath it (although part of the unit) was a simple cupboard although the rocker switch & indicator light tend to indicate that there might have been a heating element in it.
This unit is VERY pricy, and I have seen at least one of them on ebay before
