Jackson
Steve
That Jackson cooker has a lot of memories for me as we had almost exactly the same cooker from 1965 to 1974, only ours had a taller splashback with a timer on it - the timer box stuck out the back so it made the cooker sit out about 5 or 6 inches from the wall. My aunt Jean had this exact cooker only all in cream as was ours. It was late 1950s rather than 1960s as my parents bought ours second hand.
The large rectangular place was a combination hot plate & grill (broiler) - there was a deflector you inserted underneath if you wanted to use it as a hotplate. The whole top lifted of for cleaning, the solid plates were plug in. The drawer under the oven was heated, there was a great big rocker switch on the RH side and the indicator (in the centre of the handle) flipped over to show it was on - it was red rather than black when on. The oven on this example looks remarkably clean!
