Today it was time to wash the comforter and this is where it was done.
These machines are very similar to the Wascomats but the prewash and wash cycles are way too fast for my likings.
When it fills for the prewash, enough water is used, but for the main wash, the water level is reduced to half and that cycle is no more than 5 minuet long.
The machine spins between rinses and the 1st rinse water level is almost halfway up the glass and the 2nd and 3rd rinse is half of that.

In all the years of using commercial laundrymats,
I like the Hoyt machine the most than any other machines because of the long Prewash and Wash cycles.

Hi Larry. I am tired of people saying that we must make washers that use less water.....while they are taking long showers, watering their lawns, and filling up their pools.

Ross

Larry, unfortunately cycle time lengths are also at the discretion of the owner and can have the machines set the way they want it. Same with waterr levels now.

COOL, THANKS!

I have actually used Wascomats lately that by-passed
the traditional 3rd rinse!

As always the timer quick-advanced through what looks like a long wash period on the dial

It hwas: Pre-wash, Wash, Rinse, Rinse, Spin! ...And ALL the water levels were low!

Thanks Eugene, this photo was taken with my laptop camera.
This laundry facility is housed in the NYC area, well maintained and is known to be like Wal-Mart's,
taking the mom and pop launderette out of business within a 6 block radius because of free parking,
open 24 hours and on certain days, free detergent or drying during grand opening period of a new location.
The lure, and then the kill!!!

It just dawned on me about the wash temps on these machine!?!
The pre-wash was hot and the main wash was warm, shouldn't this be the other way around?
Set the stains before washing it out, kind of dumb huh?

Anyway, it seems to be the norm like Ross and Bob said about water restriction and controls over the time cycles of the machines,
it just absolutely sucks for us consumers who uses these machine.

Wow Steve, that owner really taking you through the wringer, no third rinse?
Are they crazy?
The question I must ask, is it always crowded for him to do that for a faster turnover?
Shaking my head.....

Hoyt Washers

Hoyt made some of the best laundry washers on the market. They stopped Mfg the washer line in 96 in effort to mfg more advanced Drycleaning equiptment. The Hoyt Widsor dryers were Very good too..

These washers look Alliance made Unimacs with a different lable over the front. These are also not all that new.

Mechanical timers... The owner probably does not have any options on times but rather can add/subtract some steps. Pre-wash, wash and 3 rinses are the standard fare. Loosing a rinse is a far more popular choice than loosing the pre-wash.

The owner probably also has the option for high or low wash water levels. Typical to leave that on low.

When it comes to how a store owner sets his machines, it is usually not for any "green" environmental reason, rather to save more "green" money in having lower utility bills. Domestic washer manufacturers force us to now buy "green" environmental washers because Washington is in the pockets of environmental fascists.
