OK, all you collectors who have been wailing and lamenting, beating your chest's, because you can't find old laundry. Gotta make some room. All these are FREE, come get 'em, or they go to the great appliance maker in the sky, for next years Toyota's. Unless noted, all are working condition unknown. Picked up in South Bend, IN.

First is this Whirlpool BD washer, probably late 70's.

If anyone is SERIOUSLY interested in any of these, I can get more pics. If y'all want a picture of the inside, because your grandmothers neighbors brother in law's sister's cousin had one in 1971, that's not going to happen. I'll work with you if you need anything shipped.

LMAO!!!!!!!!

Kenny, I was 'gonna ask for in interior shot of that MW Touch N Wash.(Then I read your last post. I wish I had that many living relatives!) Can't say I ever saw one of those. I assume standard 'Noge interior though.

Impressive grouping of washers from the late 60s to mid 80s. I hope they find loving homes with members of the club.

Have a good one,
James

Norge!

Someone please save that Norge Touch 'N Wash! I'd love to add it to my collection, working or not, but I'm too far west (northern CA coast) to save it, and am sure shipping costs would be prohibitive. It's a gem!!!

re: Wards TnW

was gonna' use my economic stimulus towards something unique like this BUT my cars A/C had other ideas - currently have already spent $500+ and not done yet :(. Hope someone else will grab her

A fun question indeed. Let me guess:

1. Whirlpool - This washer looks to be circa 1980, so I figure it has a Winged Surgilator.

2. Kenmore 70 Series - Either Dual Action, or Penta Vane agitator. Looks like a 1980s model, and these agitators were pretty much the only two used at this time. I'll guess it has the Dual Action, as 70 series were more likely to have the TOL agitator than the BOL.

3. Montgomery Wards - Being a Norge product it would be the Angel Wing agitator. I would guess the Burpalator version with the filter holes in the skirt. (I am no Norge/Wards expert, so I could be off.)

4. Lady Kenmore 90 series - Dual Action Agitator for sure.

5. Maytag A606 - Turquoise Power Fin.

Have a good one,
James

agitators

tbolt & James -

The WP probably does have the winged surgilator. It could be a standard capacity machine though, which would then have a regular surgilator, but it looks almost too "fancy" to be a standard. WP sold a lot of standard machines back then, more than Kenmore did, at least that's been my findings years later.

The almond Kenmore 70 is definitely a Dual-Action model, at least from the factory. Every 70 series from 1981 and later was a DA in a full-size 29-inch model, and I'm 99% sure that's a 1983 model. The "Heavy Duty Plus" designation gives the DA away too, as the DA was part of the marketing plan there. The 1981 and 1982 60 series machines had the Penta Vane, as did the 1984 Toyota machines (they were 400 series machines), but even the 1983 60 had a DA.

I think the Penta-Vane machines are more fun to watch and use, that's for sure, but the DA can move some clothes!
