Hey belt drive fans! I am looking for a spare gearcase assembly (and maybe a spare basket drive assembly too) for my 1980s Imperial 70. Preferably in the central NJ area so I can pick it up. My machine is still working (I use it every other day) but cracking open the original gearcase to replace a spring will be a lengthy procedure because I used RTV on the housing instead of a gasket. I want to take my time on this....

My model # is LA7800XPN1. I saw a similar machine on Craigslist a few weeks ago but somebody beat me to it. I have been searching every day but haven't seen anything since.

Thanks!

-Andy

Hi Andy, I think you tried to get in touch with me a while ago about getting a transmission. Sorry I’m so busy. I have plenty of transmissions to sell. I do not have time to make a crate for it and ship it if you come down to Beltsville, we can make a deal.

The fact that you glued yours together with RTV, doesn’t make it difficult to repair at all. You can take it apart and put it together as many times as you’d like you just have to use new sealant and clean the oil off before the sealant will adhere.
