Popped into a local shop this evening for something and spied the new offerings from Clorox. The new liquid detergents in both lavender and unscented versions.

Lavender scent wasn't the worst one has smelled, not the same as true French or English lavender, but not as bad as the God awful Tide version. As for the unscented it has the usual chemical non-scented scent found with most unscented laundry products in the USA.

On the good side labels list all contents, but at nearly $13 for the bottle, neither made it into one's shopping basket.

Anyone try either? Results in terms of cleaning performance?

TIA

I had a great coupon for the Greenworks detergent so I bought some of the lavender scented kind to give it a whirl.

First the smell was, in a word, repellent. It was like a chemist's nightmare of what lavender might smell like if you'd never actually smelled any. The stench lingered strongly on the clothes even after coming out of the dryer, and it took 2-3 washings to get it out.

To top it off, it really didn't clean that well . Several stains on my boy's shirts did not come out, and these were easy ones that I usually don't have to pretreat.

I actually ended up taking it back to the store for a refund, which I very rarely do for anything. It really was *that* bad.

If you want something that actually smells like lavender and isn't so profoundly strong, you should try the new Vaska laundry products. They are slow-rolling them out into stores on the west coast but you can order them online from Alice.com. I'm about to start my second bottle and so far, so good. Great cleaning (at least equal and sometimes better than Charlie's), nice smelling and very gentle on the clothes and the skin. I can break out at the drop of a pin and the Vaska products haven't bothered me a bit so far.
