Glorified bleach...

I saw this at Target and decided to pass. It is basically bleach rebranded (see link with ingredient list) and just an attempt to get people to purchase something at a ridiculous mark up.

I just use regular bleach and a TBSP of STPP during my monthly cleaning.

I was thinking the same thing. I haven't tried Afresh or Tide washing machine cleaners either. When I had my front load I used Cascade dishwasher detergent and a cup of bleach, and the washer came out nice a clean, but I never had any problems with odors, mold, or mildew I always wiped down the boot and left the door open for several days.

The owner's manual of my 2010 Frigidaire says to use bleach for the cleaning cycle. I've used Tide Washing Machine cleaner, but I don't know that it really does anything more than leave a heavy, flowery scent behind.

I use liquid chlorine bleach in at least three loads a week, and I always pat the boot dry, wipe down the window and wipe out the dispenser drawer at the end of wash day. I leave both the door and the dispenser open when the machine is not in use. Have never had a problem with mold, mildew, smells, etc.

Boot wiper are ya? Yeah me too.

I already use Tide, which already 'should' be keeping washer clean. It's getting to where Tide sells almost as many additives for Tide as they do flavors of Tide. I get the feeling they're just groping for supermarket shelf space. Like softdrinks and salty snacks do.

But yeah, if the stuff is just sodium hypochlorite (bleach), buy that for $1 instead of 'cleaner' for $5. Same is true of some drain cleaner brands. Just bleach at 5x the price.

An overpriced...............................................

glorified tiny bottle of bleach, nothing more, nothing less.

I never had any problems with odors the whole time I had my Frigidaire Gallery front loader. After the last load was washed I would take the detergent drawer upstairs and wash it out and leave on a towel to dry and also wipe down the area where the drawer would normally be. I had the washer for six years and never had any problems with odors.

I haven't had any odor problems with the WP Cabrio either.

With no steps taken our old Westy slantfront never stunk. But then it never sat unused longer than ~30 hours.

I do the same as you AwF, with the Gallery. Plus the glass and boot. An old towel sitting on top exactly for that.

I kept a few old rags/towels on the table next the washer just for wiping and drying the washer after the last load went in the dryer.
