I recently did some work on one of the cold water pipes in my basement. When I turned the water back on, my washers cold side just barely wont turn off. It very slowly drips out. About 2 gallons over 8 hours. I'm guessing some hard water sediment in the pipe broke off and got stuck in the solenoid. Is there a way to fix this without replacing the part?

Dripping inlet valve.

You can try taking the valve apart and cleaning [ warning do not remove the inlet screens to clean, instead clean them in place, if you remove them they get bent slightly and will allow particles to pass by and cause the valve to stick open and cause a flood ] But I would not waste my time and effort as it will often either not work or fail again soon and possibility flood out your laundry room.

New valves are less than $30
