Collections besides applicances?

I collect fountain pens, Poole Pottery (especially the breakfast sets), Denby pottery and dishes, specifically Wedgwood, Spode, Raynaud and Haviland. My husband used to complain about all the dishes....now he's resigned to the fact that they aren't going away, and I'll ask for a new set for Christmas almost every year!

I collect mid century pottery - mostly dinnerware. Been doing this for about 15+ years. It's getting harder and harder to find but I'm still out there looking for it. Red Wing is only 45 minutes from here so I have quite a few nearly complete sets - plus there are a few artware lines that I have near complete sets. California pottery is also a passion of mine - I love Marc Bellaire and some Sascha Brastoff.

I tend not to be much of a collector, I do have a small collection of vintage small kitchen appliances and at last count several hundred cookbooks...but that is about it.

Eatons and Sears catalogues and vintage linen tea towels.

I was painting for a lady and we got on the topic of ebay.
She asked if I collected anything. I told her I had about 30 old catalogues. She disappeared and brought out one I all ready had. This is for you. I thanked her nicely.
She said, before you go, there is more by the door.
I wasn't expecting 43 more. I asked her why she would keep these catalogues for 40 years, she said, I guess I was just waiting for you to come and get them, Good Answer!

I have somewhere in the vicinity of 40 sewing machines ranging from the late 1870's through the mid 1950s, but my collection focus is 19th century machines that have Coffin tops, (pre drop head machines) sprinkled with a few industrial machines.

There's also that collection of vintage bikes that are languishing in the attic, and then tons of smaller old things like toasters, irons (that only started 'cause I couldn't turn down anything with a cloth cord at the thrift store...but I've got that under control now) and thankfully I nipped the vacuum collection before it got out of hand.

My cousin has our Great-Grandmothers Davis coffin-head sewing machine. The instructions are in German & English. It has a patent date of approx. 1890. They were married June 28, 1891. My wife and also have an Eldredge drop-head that was bought by Grandma's cousin and his wife in 1931, as part of their first household items. It has all the original instructions, and the certificate of warranty dated 1931 as well. We bought it at their son's estate auction as a family momento. The cabinet & machine are in excellent condition for it's age, and the amount of use it saw in it's heyday.

Rob, as soon as I saw the Hoovers, I knew it was you before I had even looked at your name!

I collect anything with a plug on it, really. hehe I like computers and consumer electronics (DVD, TVs, hi-fi and other audio/visual equipment), telephones...

I have lots of computers and games consoles from the 1980s and 1990s, as well as lots of software. I have all of the major computers and games consoles from those eras.

I also like to seek out clever small appliances, like toasters, that are unusual in terms of how they operate - say, one with a clever feature that has never been used before or since.

I do collect vacuum cleaners, though my collection is quite small. I have a Kirby G4, Dyson DC08, a Hoover Turbopower Junior U1100 from my late great aunt (sorry if I have got that model number wrong, Rob! ), Sebo Automatic X5 Extra upright, Henry Plus...

Love it all!
