Over a week ago Michael informed me he'd broken the handle off his kitchen faucet. For whatever reason last weekend we never got around to fixing the faucet, but this weekend we finally did.
Michael cooked me a wonderful dinner on Friday night, and cleaning up afterwards using a faucet you could only turn on and off with a pair of needle nose pliers was a pain.
So off to Menards we went and procured a new faucet.
About 10 pm, after a couple of glasses of wine, I actually had the wild idea I could make the swap no problem
I started taking things apart until the old faucet looked like this:

See where the handle snapped off...

OK so I got it this far

Surprisingly this type of faucet was very east to install...once I could interpret the pictures...

making sure there are no leaks...

This was the first time I've ever done this and it didn't leak when I was all done...

and VOILA!!!

Finished...total time was about 40 minutes start to finish, not bad considering it took me about two hours to get the disposal installed when I did that!

Did the same thing this weekend In CT for a relative of the BF. I thought I was there to change a disposer. The minute the disposer was removed I was handed a new faucet as well! *LOL*

Got some speedies and some plumber's putty from Homo Despot and all went well. The disposal went from an In-sink-erator to the same brand so I reused the drain mounting collar. Saved me some time.

I was going to add an outlet and a mounting box to make the garbage disposal plug-and-cord connected, which IRRC is the newest version of electrical code. Said "NAAAAAAAAAAAAH".

All these manly men around here. It warms the heart!

GOOD JOB!

Terry,

YES!!! i am very happy to have a working faucet again!! Thank you JEFF!!!!! Now I have to repay him somehow!!!

Jeff, I can so relate to your plumbing job! Within the past couple of weeks I had to change out our instant hot water dispenser due to the tank on the old one developing a leak. That job included the dreaded compression fitting for the final connection. Then over this weekend I had to change the cartridge for the single handle (Moen) kitchen faucet. It was a battle getting the old one out but managed without damaging anything. And the shut-off valves for the water supply were actually turnable! It really is satisfying once a plumbing job is done and there are no leaks! And now you can turn my kitchen faucet on and off with your baby finger!

Nice job, and I agree with Lee!
