Decided to pull out all my convertibles today, since I have more of these than any other series of vacuums!

From left to right-

1963ish Convertible 33- all original- very nice
Mid 60s Commercial convertible 344- restored/rebuilt, NOS bag
mid 60s Commercial convertible 344, all original except fan and bag
Late 60s or early 70s, Convertible 1020- all original. Excellent
70s Model 1060- This is from the 2007 VCCC convention, Greg gave this beauty to me! All I need is a handle.
1970s or so, Convertible U4123, Low serial number of 3988 if I read it correctly. Mint condition. Last convertible like this.

Here they are. Same order. In "vacuuming position"

I put my model 28s handle on the 1060 because it just needed a handle for the pic!

Pardon the mess. My bedroom is my "workshop" as we have no garage space for one.

We will be moving to a much larger house with a basement soon, so more room! :D But a move. Dreadful! Packing, painting, unpacking. Lots of work!

Plus moving 2 pianos! :O :P

I Understand

I used to go Salvation Army as a kid and for $20.00 the store would take as much as I could fit in the trunk from the untested piles. I had a basement full as well. Mom never knew what she'd find to cook with the next time she went went in the basement. I thought the WindTunnel was the best carpet groomer Hoover ever made until I bought one of the Platinum series. I have two Electroluxes and a Kirby Model G I need to buff and spritz and get them posted on ebay. My garage will never see the car this winter if I don't get on the stick and get some stuff gone.

Cool!

Ive never seen a lux in that color.

Once we move it will be much easier to collect, and work on my stuff.

I cant restore the double bass, of which you can see the back in the second picture, because I just dont have room! That things huge!

Oh tell me about it

lol.

Moving a bass is a pain in the rear!

Here is my "daily driver" if you will. This is my personal bass. It is a gift from my grandmother, from 2 years ago. It replaced a 1950s Kay bass that I got for free, that had water damage and all.

This is a new, Chinese made bass. Its very high quality. Lets just say it wasn't cheap. Its hand carved, with ebony and gold plated finishes. The base was "set up" by a nationally renowned local stringed instrument shop, to be in the most optimal playing state, with a new, -yikes!- $500 bridge set up, new strings, and an upgraded wooden, and gold endpin.

Its made of Chinese Flamed Maple, and has the most gorgeous deep warm sound. Its very very powerful. Best bass I have played to this day.

The bow I use is a 120 year old L. Bausch, german style. That cost myself an arm and a leg!

Rear

Here is the rear of the beast.

Has to be one of the most gorgeous flamed wood every!

Its a deep golden look. The overkill lighting in our band room really distorts the color. Its more dark than it appears.

In performance mode

Here is a pic of it in a better suited environment, rather than my schools band rom!

My bass is the one on the left. This pic was taken at a summer Kansas University music camp I attended over the last summer.

That is my friends bass next to it. Same company.

The piano behind it is a $150,000 Steinway Hamburg D :)
