A few years ago i remember seeing on the internet that several households in the UK all given the chance to take part in a major laundry research campaign. If anybody else has seen this too and i get any info wrong please just correct me. The area was selected and local residents were all given th same model washing machine and 3 boxes of unlabeled washing powder. The powders were only distinguished between the fact they were different coloured boxes. Red Blue and Green. After a period of usage the results were collected and the results were very conclusive. The Red box was majority voted to be a very strong powder and strongly irritational to its users i.e broughtpeople out in rashes. The Blue box was ok but lacked power on tough to clean items and considered a gentle powder. however the Green box provided great cleaning not alot of irritation and was liked my the majority. the REAL TWIST is that they were all the SAME POWDERS in different coloured boxes. Its actually very true i have to agree. When WISK was available in the UK my mum stopped using it when my baby brother came out in a rash. WISK was in a red bottle. She switched to Green ariel automatic which was in the late 80s only in Biological with us messy kids until they started changing the formula so much we all got irritated and mums pscoriasis grew worse. Now were she is on mainly non bio Blue box with exception to persil bios which rinse great. Does anybody else think this is true to say? I also think sounds of a washing machine plays a big part on perception. I believe that a noisy hotpoint or hoover cleans better than a whisper quiet philco. My nanas whisper quiet philco always seemed very gentle on cottons whereas my friends Hotpoint which ive been using over the past week from the same era seems very tough on clothes but it is very noisy. A noise perception? Am i going crazy? My mums lg is very quiet and although A rated for wash i dont think its as good as our old 1999 hotpoint wm62 which was C rated. Thoughts please, Nick
