Great ideas!

I know it's alot of code to do but it's worth it.

The scooter and VW forums I belong to ALL have an off-topic/flame type forum for those who dare. The trolls go there and will get BANNED if they troll in an on-topic forum.

So we can talk about Honda Helix, Suzuki Burgmans, Vespas or Beetles, Buses, and Ghias instead of religion/politics/sex.

Yay for Kenmore, Whirlpools, Maytags, Seeburgs, and Magnavoxes again (and also VWs and Vespas)

Robert, it's beyond gracious of you to go to the time and trouble of accommodating "inappropriate" content. I suppose in the long run, it's easier than policing the site yourself, or relying on potentially biased members to click & kill threads they don't like.

Thanks for all you do. I'm ready to upgrade when the time comes.

Sounds like the best off all worlds. One of those rare occasions were we can have our cake and eat it too.

Looking forward to a drama free appliance zone!

I say have a spam filter of sorts.

Each poster could have a 'green' list that highlights said words in green, but only on THEIR screen.

Perhaps mine would have in it

baked
cookies
dinner
recipe
thrifting
electrical

And a 'red' list. Perhaps mine would have in there

Christianist
Republican
Democrat
breeder
racist
bigot

As soon as I see a red highlight in a panel of a thread, I know I don't want to read a panel.

Taken a step further the ones who stir up the Sugar Honey Iced Tea repeatedly can be easily identified, if their screen-name appears in many red lists. Hell, find someone's name or screen-name in 'red' enough and *management* knows who to warn.

Personally I think a year of birth, gender and city/state/country should be MANDATORY. We'd have a better sense of who we are dealing with and adjust our responses accordingly.

Perhaps the reported panel of a post that gets deleted should migrate to "Dirty laundry". Paid members will get to enjoy the juicy stuff that way.

I'd also change regsitration info from 'name' to 'first name'
and 'birth day' to 'birth year'. Likewise, send a confirmation to a person's e-mail and force them to respond to initiate their membership here. This ensures everyone has a valid e-mail address to which *management* can send warnings. Those who need to be contrary, rude, egotistical, right all the time and never back down can be TOLD OFF-- OFF THIS BOARD. Similarly, contests of wills, hate mail and fights can be fought via email and OFF THE BOARD!

Good ideas

I like the new divisions, simply because--as other members have stated, and as Robert pointed out--the Super forum has a purpose: "Other stuff." There are lots of small electric/automotive/vacuum/etc postings I like to read in this forum.

There are, of course, posts of various topics that we can do without, but I think filing them in the Dirty Laundry hamper is a great idea. If you want to go sit in the jacuzzi, get ready to acknowledge that you're going to be in with the grown-ups.

Beyond that, I don't think we need additional policing features. Robert's giving us a lot to work with, and the onus for demonstrating grace, thoughtfulness, courtesy, and allowing each other space to breathe falls squarely on us. It's not up to someone else to devise a system that precludes misbehavior.

P.O.D request

I enjoy the PODs, but the one thing that I would like to see added is the date when available. I know some things have no clue as to when it came from but when the info is available it would be great to have it displayed either in the title or above or below the picture.
