While I was visiting a local laundromat today, I noticed that they had another SQ toploader down with E:oD error. After googling this code, it is a pressure switch issue, with either the water taking too long to fill or water still detected at the end of the cycle. However, this machine as well as one of the others is full of black water that reaks of sewage. There are 3 machines total that have gone down with the E:oD code in the past couple of months. My question is, do you think it could be a plumbing issue rather than a machine issue? I find it odd that 2 of them would be filled with black sewage water. I'm wondering if it either backed up the standpipe into the machine, or if some siphoned into it when it was trying to spin out. Either way, I really want to ask the girl that works there next time I go in, if she could manually put these machines into spin to see if they drain out. The owner is a pennypincher and doesn't care about putting money into his machines.

It sounds to me like a sewer blockage problem or a problem with the line going from the washer to the drain. Is this washer sitting on a tank of some kind where the water runs out? Usually it's a concrete pool like thing under the washer.

No, its not sitting on a tank, but I have noticed that the hoses are fastened pretty securely to the standpipe, it doesn't even look as if there is the air gap in it which makes me think it just backed up.

Sounds like sewage water

You need to stay out of that laundromat and report it to the county department of health.
