Last night I used the search here on AW org. (Old threads) Today after clicking search it redirects me to Google, and asks for my email and password?
Anyone know what this is about?
I think I know what happened Stan. You see the search bar for non-upgraded members is called a Google Custom Search, in some ways it works better than the aw.org Super Searchalator. It is run by google and only searches automaticwasher and automatic ephemera for the search results.
Not sure about the email and password, that probably was for google mail, but I can't say.
Rick, and Robert.
I checked, and I am logged in.
Still confused though. Not sure why this suddenly changed from one day to the next.
As I say, when I type in anything into the search bar, it still sends me to google, and a page I've never seen before and asks for my email and password to set up some kind of account to view past topics ect?
Sometimes Google will want you to log in with your Google userid & password before using any of the Google services. I've seen that plenty of times. This is probably what you encountered.
the google custom search that its asking me to sign onto. There is a cartoon video that you can play, that explains how this will benefit "your" website???
So it thinks its mywebsite ?
I guess you have to be an astronaut to figure this one out. I give up
What's strange is that today I used a friends new iPhone and it worked normal! So it may have to do with my ipad. I'm going to try it on my desktop and see what that dose. .?
