Top Loaders Changing

I don't think top loaders are going to go away. If you look at the top 10 Consumer Reports top loaders, I believe the top 7 are all "Energy Star" high efficiency washers. It might be that in order to meet Federal standards the conventional top loader will no longer be made, but it looks like the top loader will continue in a form.

I understand what you are saying about not wanting government to dictate your applicances, but in some parts of the country, water is certainly become a scarce resource. If you look at places like southern California that have huge populations that are growing even larger, you either have to find some way to conserve water or limit population growth. You have to ask which is worse to have the government telling you can't have any kids or only a certain number, and telling you that you can't move to a certain area OR have the government telling you when you flush your toilet it can only take 2-1/2 gallons and when you wash your clothes it can take only 15 gallons?
