Convection bake cycle vs regular bake cycle

I recently purchased a KA Electric wall oven (KEB207). I noticed that during the regular bake cycle the convection fan runs constantly. KA customer service says this is normal for cooling purposes. Is this correct and how does it differ from the convection bake cycle?

Are you sure it's the convection fan inside the baking cavity, and not a fan behind the control panel to cool the electronics?

Yes, it's the one in the back of the oven and you can see that it's rotating.

The User Guide on KA's web site advises that the convection fan and element may operate during [normal, non-convection] Bake mode on some models.  It doesn't explain why.
