Whilst the Miele W5741 does deliver nicely washed (and rinsed) clothing articles any day of the week, I've been trying to figure out how I'm supposed to get a Cool-Down on some of the loads I wash...

I have set the machine to do "Cool-Down" on loads at 75°/90° (has been set since we got the machine), but noticed the machine isn't flushing with cold water at the end of the cycle, having done two loads at those temperatures within the last fortnight.

On Delicates, the machine HAS in the past went through Cool-Down when set to 50° for my "Unmentionables/Socks" washing, but has (again) not been doing this recently for whatever reason.

The "Minimum Iron" cycle that I use for my Darks and Lights is also supposed to be friendly to Permanent-Press articles.

Unless the machine knows my clothes aren't PP, I would have thought it would do a cool-down there too, instead of the measly "Pulse-Spin" included between the wash and rinses.

To recap, I've tried setting the "Cool-Down" function in the User-Settings, tried setting to EU mode instead of AUS (Australia), which only lengthens some of the cycles and swapped the temperatures I wash at to no-avail.

Do any of the members here have some suggestions I could follow?

Hi.
My Miele W1613, behaves just like your W5741, i can set mine to do a Cool-Down on Cottons 75/95, but i don't get a cool-Down on these tempretures, it just drains the wash Water instead, i have only seen it do a cool-Down on cottons 75/95
7 times since i bought the washer 3 years ago. but when i use the Easy-Care cycle on 50/60C then i always get a cool-Down, the same goes for the Delicates cycle where i also get a cool-Down when i select 50/60C.
Have you noticed when using the Cottons prog, on any temp, if the washer does heat the Water to selected temp just once, or does it hold the tempreture? through the mainwash. Because my W1613 does tempreture holding on easy-care prog, but on cottons prog the washer only heats the Water once, trough the mainwash, this allows the Water to cool Down long before the end of the mainwash and then the washer wil not do a cooldown because the Water is not hot enough. i also have tried to switch between EU/S/AU mode but there is no differences in the Cool-Down.

At least on the Minimum Iron programme, the machine DOES maintain the temperature. And I would assume so for the hotter Cottons cycles too (I've heard the water "fizzling" several times through the wash).

Might be an idea to try turning off the Cool-Down and see if the machine'e "logic" takes over?
