I've seen hundreds of these over the years - as most have, I'm sure. Loud as hell on fire and didn't really do that great of a job with no filtering, but they do have a certain charm about them. I always liked that top rack - simple and easy to load.
But in the BOL models, the top rack is so close to the top of the machine that it barely holds slightly oversize glasses. Probably a more deluxe version like this would have some adjustment for the position of the top rack. Yes, Veg, this is a convertible. Most people just cut a hole in the sheet metal shell, disconnect & remove the unicouple & wheels and connect it like a builtin.
Hotpoint dishwashers have always been loud. I have not heard one any newer than the early 1970s, but it was noisy and most of the 50s and 60s models seemed to use the tank as an amplifier for all of the motor noise. If the motor had not suffered water damage, the models with the Bakelike wash arm and gentle water action were a little quieter. The other bad thing about Hotpoint dishwashers was their lousy reliability in their earlier years.

Harriet Nelson was at work all day so the studio would arrange to have the dishwasher fixed, ASAP making it was no pain for her. Maybe she did not even have to cook in those days. I do not know how domestic she was. After David was born, she traveled around a lot as a singer with the big bands. She was only the second female vocalist featured in a big band. Ozzie kept sending her photographs of David who remained without hair so long that they wondered if he would ever have any. All of that was long before Hotpoint sponsored the show and made them into the ideal family. I wonder how she felt about giving up her singing career. I don't remember her singing more than Happy Birthday on the show and that was not solo.
