This arrived today, the first thing I've ever bought from Ebay and I was fretting that the glass jar would arrive in pieces but it didn't. I remember these for sale in the 70's and always wanted one but they weren't cheap and were mostly sold in private small stores or tv/stereo stores that sold Panasonic stuff, now I got one. It has an electronic timer, the top row of buttons,, 5 sec, 10 sec, 20 sec and 40 secs and works really well.
Got another one, different make, on the way as well,, MIB..

I remember those

vaguelyh in the stores anyway... pricey and back when panasonic was not such a huge name.
Nice find, a very rare blender for sure!

Of all the Japanese manufacturers Panasonic made the most nifty stuff I think, cool little radios in all sorts of shapes and sizes, clocks etc. Other than their microwaves and vacs though there wasn't a lot of kitchen stuff I remember other than this blender.

Fantastic Panasonic Blender!!

WOW Pete! I love all that chrome! How is she at making boat drinks? It looks very powerful! Keep away from small children and pets! ;-)

I haven't tried it yet other than with hot soapy water. Need to empty the dishwasher first and give it a thorough cleaning before I'd drink from it. lol
One thing of all the blenders around very few have a low speed that is really a slow stir, The Ronson does and so do some of the Oster Kitchen Centers, you can fill the jar right to the top and not worry about it splashing over or holding down the lid. Why that's nice is because when you make frozen concentrated juices, an Oster jar is about 1/8 " from the top when you add 3 cans of water, you don't need to measure, just fill it up and let it stir without a mess.

Timer, eh? That's clever; I've never heard of a blender with a timer before. Excellent idea for standardizing recipes, and saving time in the kitchen (i.e. the timer shuts off on its own, freeing you from watching the blender to do other tasks).

I'm going to estimate that your blender is early to mid 1960s, due to the little square "National" logo in the upper left hand corner.

Panasonic presently makes a really cool automatic bread maker that I'd like to get one of these days. Pour in the ingredients (depending on your choice of recipes), put the yeast in the dispenser on top, press the button, and in four hours you have a nice warm fresh loaf of bread in any of three sizes. Takes "automatic cycle" to a whole 'nother level. And would probably pay for itself in less than a year ($150) compared to buying bread at the store.

Oster blenders never had a timer on any model that I know of but Waring put dial timers on many of their deluxe versions. The fancier Osters are the cycle-blend models which start and stop intermittently as they're running but still no timer.

Bread machines are great, I have a Philips that works very well, the trouble is that the loaves are so small (for me) that they're eaten and gone shortly after being baked. Since I got that powerful Bosch mixer I can make 4 -6 regular sized loaves in the same amount of time with really no more work as a bread machine other than having to take the dough out and put it in bread pans to rise.

Jeff I put the Oster blade assemblies in the dw and have never had a problem. With this one I'm going to just to get it cleaned but then it'll probably not see much use anyways to worry about it. If I was going to use it regularly I wouldn't because I don't know how it will last and finding another one aint gonna be easy.

we need to get you an owners manual

Pete,
Oster manuals clearly state not to wash the blade assembly in the DW. The combination of the hot water and the DW detergents will dry out the lubrucant in the bearing and cause the blades to seize up.
I suppose blade assemblies are fairly cheap, but still I always wash mine by hand. The jar and lid go in the DW though.
