Racist Jello COmmerical

Um, I don't subscribe to the recent "standards" of "racist" humor.

This retro commercial isn't racist IMHO. It makes the point that you can't easily eat Jello with chopsticks. What racial/ethnic group usually uses chopsticks when eating??? Was it easy for the kid to eat Jello w/ chopsticks??? C'mon. They were merely taking a real-world occurrance and using it in the commercial.

As a matter of fact, you can't easily nail Jello to the wall either! Maybe the UBC (carpenter's union) should be shown trying to do just that, and then they could lodge a union grievance against Kraft foods!!!

Sensitivity is set way too high on some people's meters. Get over it. The level of PC-ness has gotten way too high in the last few-or-more years.

Jello has had an image problem for quite a long time. One of the reasons they chose Bill Cosby as a major spokesperson years ago was to counter this Mormon association.

Before we saw the softer side of Sears

there was my all-time favorite store slogan: "There's more more for your life... at Sears!" They weren't hokey at all :-)

David Leisure

As well as doing the Isuzu commercials had a recurring role on the sitcom "Empty Nest", does commercial work for personal-injury law firms, and recently had a recurring role on "The Young And The Restless". Pretty funny guy.

1951 Palmolive Commercial...

...With the long-unemployed Palmolive Pixies! This is a bad dupe; I have this on one of my Colgate Comedy Hour DVDs in much better quality. Dig that Vitrolite around the tub!

"You want a beauty soap for a beauty bath
You want a beauty soap for a beauty bath
You want Palmolive Soap for a beauty bath
You want Pal-mol-ive Soap for your beauty bath!
You'll love it's fragrance for daintiness
You'll love it's mildness for loveliness
You'll love it's purity for gentleness
You'll love Pal-mol-ive Bath Size for thriftiness!"

Now, is it any wonder that I use Palmolive to this day? ;-)
