Somebody here loved Coppertone! Washer, Dryer, Frig, and Stove. And I must admit, there's a part of me that finds it tempting. Check it out!

By the way - was not sure how to post this together as multiple appliances are included, yet they're a part of a grouping. If something should be changed, please advise or do so and sorry. Not wanting to break the rules.

John

PS - to all the Detroit people - wow, the Retro motherload has landed in your area. I'm jealous!

The Powells...

who lived up the street from me had that exact fridge AND in coppertone!!! I am salivating here! I have always loved coppertone and I begged and begged Mama to get coppertone back in 1971 but she chose avacado. Beautiful!!!!!

The stove and fridge have been so well maintained that there's probably no reason to think otherwise about the laundry pair.

$500 is a steal for all four pieces in such beautiful shape.

UHHHHHHHH.....

I think that Roper range just miiiiiight be an early gas self-cleaner.

There were some gas models around in the late '60s/early '70s, but they were expensive and I don't think they sold too well. Only in the '80s did the concept grab hold.

Every one of those appliances is deluxe - not a BOL unit anywhere.

Yes, Yes, Yes

I so much agree with what each of you have said - and I'm fighting with all I have to not call and purchase everything. They are beautiful. I hope someone near Detroit will swoop them up, so I'll have a good reason to not proceed.

Questions:

Any idea on what size frig that would be? Looks like a 19 or 20 cf?

I notice what appears to be a white lens under the control panel of the W & D. Does this mean they're illuminated?

thanks

John

That is a beautiful set.....

the washer/dryers panels may not light up....but not like one couldn't be added for great effect!

ashame we couldn't do a 1.00 raffle in a jar, winner takes all!.....Guess the exact size of the fridge?.....I'm saying 22 cu ft!.....this could be fun!

...the W & D.... does this mean they're illuminated?

Possibly, but not necessarily. I have had a couple WP models with that white plastic "lens" panel come through my garage that were NOT lit. I opened them up to see if I could get the light working, only to find there was NO provisions for a light.

I have of course had others which looked similar and did have a light. I think it was only the TOL model and the one right below it which had lights. The next model down looked as if it had a light, but didn't.

However there is room inside to add your own light............

Roper Gas Self-Cleaning Range

This was indeed the first SCGR, Roper brought these out around 1966 or 7 several years after GE brought out the electric P-7 SCRs. This Roper was an unusual SCGR in that the heat from the gas flame did not go through the oven cavity [ no gassy smelling baked goods ] instead all the heat was directed around the oven liner. This made for a slower heating less efficient oven, but also one that was smooth inside with no openings or vents around the oven bottom, they even had an electrically heated catalytic smoke eliminator in the oven vent like an electric SCO. The other bad thing about this range was the messy broiler is still under the oven in a drawer [ the only SCGR to ever not have the broiler in the main oven cavity ].

If someone is going after these appliances and does not want this range I would be glad to buy it for the museum. I had the Sears KM version of this range in the warehouse for several years and finally gave up on it as it was just in too bad a condition.
