Coppertone kid here too

My parents were married in 1966 and they bought a matched set of Fridigaire 40" coppertone range and fridge (but Mother wouldn't pay extra for 'colored' w/d so her new Maytag was white). They built our house in 1968 and had a coppertone sink and range hood installed in it. Daddy was laid off in 1974 for about 10 months (union job so he still drew a check, just not as much) so Mother went back to work for a while...and she said "I'm working so I'm going to buy a dishwasher!" Enter her KDS17A in coppertone. Daddy never did like that Frigidaire range though, he felt the elements didn't last as long as they should because they were so thick...whether there's any truth to that or not, I don't know. They switched to gas in 1992 so it's now a non-issue.

My paternal grandparents had Coppertone range and fridge. We had 3 neighbors with coppertone appliances (my dad and granddad also built their houses), 3 neighbors with avocado kitchen appliances (one of those also had avocado w/d). My maternal grandmother had white kitchen appliances...an old Crosby? electric range with a deep well, Frigidaire refrigerator, GE dryer with the fluorescent light panel, and a 1974 GE filterflo in avocado. When she died in 2012, the only things left were the FF washer and white GE dryer...still going!

memories for sure

My parents married in 1957 and all the furniture and appliances came from Hall Furniture Co. in Nashville Tn. After we moved to Little Rock in 63 the appliances started breaking down and my mother went crazy over Coppertone from Sears..and I mean Coppertone everything. We even had a coppertone kitchen sink as well as a dishwasher, washer, dryer, stove, refridgerator and vent hood...seems like there was a coppertone toaster at some point...it was very brown at our house. For me..I can enjoy someones coppertone but I have to desire to own any. That also goes for avocado, harvest gold and almond. I guess I just got enough of those popular colors during the 60's, 70's and 80's. I seem to be happy with plain and boring white..ha!
