After having issues with all 3 of the KDS dishwashers I’ve run across, today I’ve found the holy grail. A never used KDS Superba. It was installed in a garage apartment that ended up not getting used. So today I took it home not sure if I will use it or just keep it in mint condition. Comes with owners manual and some detergent and rinse aid that was still in package with owners manual

That looks like a KDS23, the first model with the new and much improved power module pump system.

You could not have found a better vintage Superba than this one, except maybe for a KSD18, but yours would look fine in the most modern of kitchens.  An 18 series, not so much.

I say if you've been looking for a Superba for so long, install this one and enjoy it for many years to come!  Keeping it around as a giant paper weight doesn't make near as much sense.

Storage

After sleeping on it for a day or so I have decided I can’t use this machine. I’d rather keep it mint. Are any of the common parts that break or wear (pump seals etc) still avaliable? Id like to build up a part stock like I have with my Neptune TL. That way if I decide to use it later in life I can fix if it breaks.

Agreed!

I once was a house-holder for a Mediterranean style place built in 1937 that a friend inherited.  The living room fireplace had never been used.  I thought to myself that this legacy would continue if I didn't do something about it, so I built fires in there and created some soot.  That settled that.

I don't see the logic behind saving something like a never-used dishwasher for posterity.   Just what will become of it, and what sense does it make to have something of that size taking up space?   As a curiosity many years down the road, nobody is going to care if it's been used or not.  Show it off in your kitchen and make good use of it!  There are colored panels behind the black one, and you can still get stainless panels for it if you want.

That's how I found my KUDI23 a few years ago...installed but never used, still had the tags hanging inside with the manual and everything.  But I'm using my baby.  I found a brand new pump assembly on ebay a couple of years ago for only $75, so I bought it.  My mother has the same machine as I do but her's has been used for 24 years.  I figure one of us can use it eventually.
