Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Yay, Nick! You were right about the track – it was Since Yesterday! :)

I even have it on a near-perfect vinyl record of 1985 music. Now, Nick – do you know what vinyl is? ;-) Are you old enough-----? *CHOKE* Can’t breathe! Nick’s… strangling me… with cold water inlet pipe… and an empty bottle of Jon’s Bold liquid… *THUMP*

*Smacks Nick with a Miele door*

Nick, you need to enjoy that track with a Hotpoint Microtronic L.E. – we did in the 1980s! :-) Trouble is, you would not be able to hear the track over the din of the machine, god rest its soul! ;-)

slaps Carl

but not very hard.

Its pretty cool up here today and my hands have just gone numb.....

Maybe one day I will have the central heating on when Im in the house during the day. Just cant stand it. but then I usually keep busy, its only when you sit down.

Well anyway yeah, I laways thought S/S were a one hit wonder band but it seems they had some stuff out previously. although not very popular.

For the life of me I cant remeber what a Microtronic looks like but I have seen one im sure.

hehe I have a load in the Hottie now.

A good old boil at 95*c

LOL

Nick

OUCH!

Nick, that hurt! LOL

;-)

My Miele is quiet at the moment, and Mum is reading the newspaper. I will go and check if it is going on…

“I am just going upstairs to see what’s in the laundry basket,” she says.

hehe :-)

Heaven

Mr. Frigilux, no it was a cover of the Bryan Adams song. It was horrendous. Did you ever hear that cover of the Smith's song? It's on The Craft soundtrack. Whew. I have to turn it up to 10 every time I hear it. And I generally hate cover songs.

I never heard of Strawberry Switchblade, which is a stroke of fortune. Apparently that is not one of the millions of English new wave bands that had big songs in the 80s over here in the states. But I know that song. I can hear it plain as day in my head and I just can't put my finger on the artist. It's driving me crazy, actually. But it's a much much much better rendition of the song. A guy sings it.

Revolver

Revolver covered that song. Man, that was driving me nuts! The Revolver version is far superior, trust me.

Someone has had the bright idea for Girls Aloud to cover "I Think We're Alone Now", this is not good. I just heard it on the radio and it's rubbish... Well, maybe that was a given.

Oh Dear when I hear that I will no dounbt have something to say.
That song will always be Tiffanys.

Im also going to confess to liking Tracy Ullman......

and

Adding to the Did it better Covers I also believe UB40 did Many Rivers to Cross better than Jimmy Cliff

OUCH

Nick

Not trying to be controversial, but...

I actually like both versions of Heaven, both the Bryan Adams and DJ Sammy one. In fact the DJ Sammy verison is one of my favourite all time songs... is one of my "happy" songs.

Jon

Carl get that drainhose back out.

I can feel some strangulation coming on for a certain Bold user LOL

I had pretty much decided that Bryan Adams did it better....

Nick

Well

Sat at the Pc I have a cd in from the 80s......... and am also wailing as usual

When YEEEE GOOOOO will yee send back a letter from Americaaaaa

Take a loooooook up the railtrack from Miami to Can a Dah!

LOL

Nick

An outrage I tell ya

Girls Aloud covering Tiffany? That's an outrage! Tommy James says so.

How about Transvision Vamp's cover of Tell That Girl To Shut Up.

On the subject of Singalongs

A couple of songs after that clasic I was singing above earlier was this song..........;-)

Below is a link that has just made my throat very sore and put me very out of breath with my need to do all the different voices LOL

All Good Fun eh?

Nick

I agree with Jason...

Nobody does it better than Elvis. At least I haven't heard one yet! He even beat the crap out of Sinatra's "My Way."

But, that doesn't mean the covers aren't good. I like some of them! They're DIFFERENT, not not better (IMHO).

Chuck

BTW

Perfect example:

Mrs. Robinson: Simon and Garfunkel or Lemonheads? The Lemonheads version KICKS SOME SERIOUS ASS and I happen to prefer it when I want some faster, stronger music, but it doesn't take away from the original.

Chuck

That's the way I feel about "Train In Vain" by the Clash, redone by Annie Lennox, and also the "Crimson and Clover" remake by Joan Jett.

Catchy covers....

PeterH: I have to agree. I love Bananarama's "Venus". Ok, so I'm biased.

A couple of my favs:

Jimmy Hendrix doing Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower"
The Fifth Dimension's cover of "Aquarius"

A modern one that I like" Gwen Stefani's cover of Talk-Talk's "It's My Life"

Wish I had more time to listen to some good tunes!!

Venus - not the Bananarama version ;-)

My Way

Sorry, I feel just the opposite. Seems like Elvis was singing about himself, the same way Freddy Mercury may have done with Bohemian Rhapsody. Besides, Sinatra almost talks most of his lyrics. I have nothing against Sinatra, but he's probably my least fave of the Rat Pack.

Chuck

Don't misunderstand me I think Elvis was great, it's just a shame he was led by that crook of a manager he had. Elvis was the greatest rockabilly singer I've ever heard, but he only recorded rockabilly for a year or so. Have a listen to My Baby Left Me (with the volume up!).

Sinatra couldn't sing Elvis any more than Elvis could sing Sinatra. Have a look at this clip:

I don't usually like "remakes"....can't do better than the original.....HOWEVER, there is a version on "You Send Me" floating around the airwaves in Plymouth by The Manhattans (sp) that I like much better than the Sam Cooke original.

covers that sound like covers

suck.
But you can, sometimes, sing something original even tho' it was sung before.
Tough is when you have something like "Only the Lonely" from Roy Orbison and then Chris Isaak covers it.
Now, Chris Isaak is my #1 wet dream, not only decorative but can sing too - really sing. But play the two back to back and - sigh - Roy sings rings around him.
And I have everything Isaak has ever done.

STOP THE PRESSES! STOP THE PRESSES!

While showering, only moments ago, I just remembered what has to be my final vote for the all-time worst cover: Altered Images doing T.Rex's 'Jeepster'. A real stinker.

Most unrecognizable cover: Pavement (my favorite band of the '90s) doing 'The Classical' by The Fall.
