Hi everyone!

Just look at this beauty!

A 1949 Frigidaire Stove which appears to be in great condition. I would get this myself, but I have gas.
The seller is asking $150.00

Please!!!! somebody save this beauty!

Looks more like a mid-fifties unit to me----nice looking from a distance.

No, that's a Forties model. The Frigidaire major appliance line was styled by Raymond Loewy at that time, so they appeared more advanced than competing brands, making other manufacturers' offerings look dated. GE in particular pulled up its socks in a hurry, doing heavy restyling and streamlining, coming up with a bulkier and more "important" look to match Frigidaire's showroom appeal.

I grew up with a '48 Frigidaire range, just like this one, except for the backsplash. Thing was all-porcelain and it weighed a ton. Just moving it out for cleaning took two people.

Sorry, not the same model. I just noticed that the model in your picture has three knobs. If I remember correctly one was for the oven temp, one selected preheat, bake and broil and one was a timer?

The Range I Grew Up With:

Here's an ad pic of the Loewy-styled Frigidaire I grew up with. The ad is a little deceptive, as all Frigi range ads were at the time; the left-hand oven was very small, due to the burner drip box and deep-well cooker right above it. You never saw that oven door open in the ads.

By the way, it looks like that Craigslist range might have the vent covers missing- there are two black holes in the backsplash. Frigidaire put its oven vents in the backsplash all right, but they had little porcelain "hats" over them to maintain the streamlined look. The photo's not really clear enough to tell.

The Range I Grew Up With

My grandmother had a Loewy-styled Frigidaire range until the late 80's when she moved into a retirement home. Her range didn't have two ovens, instead it had one oven and one warming drawer.

Yeah, those are beautiful ranges. That backsplash design was produced from 1950 thru 1954. Here is the 1954 version for sale in the Twin Cities metro $100...
