One of my housemates washed a load of clothes with a red crayon which melted in the dryer and smeared all over her clothes. She doesn't want to go around looking like a victim of a horror movie, what should I do? We are cleaning the dryer with WD-40.
I have the following items on hand for the job:
1 bar of Fels Naptha.
Regular Tide powder.
Regular Cheer powder.
Borax.
Biz.
Clorox regular bleach (you know, the good stuff).
SA8

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Dave

Scrape off what you can gently with a credit card.
Warm the garment, if this is practical.
If you have WD40, spray the stains.
If you have baby oil, veg oil, etc., apply that.
Throw a decent amount of dish liquid all over them.
THEN rub the other sections with the wet Fels Bar, then the stains.

Launder with hot water and SA8.

Take the garments out, shake them out over the sink, and rewash again with hot water and SA8.

Good luck!:(

Resolution to this mess

Clean out the dryer.

Go out and buy some new red shoes and a nice handbag to match!

:-)

BOGO

By One Get One half off...Payless you can buy one get one half off. They even sell the kind that you can dye to match,
or personalize with your own red crayons.

Oxy...you busy right now?

I'm TOO WASTED!

LMAO

I might be mistaken...maybe he was talking about you! LOL

Well...whatever you do, make sure all residue of the WD-40 is cleaned off and dry...

And vent a window too please! We don't want to loose you too!

Clothes can be replaced, people can't!

Forbid the housemate from ever doing laundry again. You do it and make her wash dishes instead. Take the stained clothes and put them in a pile in the driveway, set on fire, pray and beg for forgivness from the laundry gods.

NOTE: Crayons are not a good substitue for lipstick. If this is not the case, methinks she need to find a BF that is a bit more mature.

Dave.

I worked for Crayola® for 21 years, they get those kinds of panic calls all the time. Have her call 1-800-crayola. They are there from 8-4:30 Eastern time. I know they have a database with lots of remedies, I hope one for getting the red out. WD40 is great for getting Silly Putty® out of carpeting.

To get back on track...

Use your iron. Put a couple of folded sheets of paper towels under the crayon, another couple on top and iron away. As the towels absorb the melted wax, move 'em to a clean spot.

After ironing the stain, wash in the hottest water possible with a double or triple dose of Tide with Bleach powder. Stop the washer half way thru washing to scrub the stains the old fashioned way between your hands.

I have had several customers in the laundromat do this, and this seemed to work very well.

1. Remove all crayons from premises.
2. Put housemate on Washing Probation.
3. Send housemate to Washing Training Class.
4. Evaulate progress.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as needed.
