There are numerous variations. I did one some months ago. Quite good, IMO. I like spice cake as a rule, the tomato gives it an ever-so-slight "acidity zing."

this is the same recipe my grandmother always used to make. Like Glen says the tomato soup gives it agreat taste for a spice cake. I haven't made this cake in years will try this soon. This is like the fruit cocktail cake so easy and from scratch.

I made this for friends in the mid 70s and had them guess what went into what was sort of like an applesauce spice cake. They could not believe it was tomato soup until I showed them the recipe. I think I baked it in the 6 cup Bundt pan. I have always preferred applesauce spice to a plain spice cake because of the moisture content and this cake is similar. I might have found the recipe in one of the Bundt Pan recipe books.
