My Kenmore/Whirlpool gas dryer has an inspection/peephole on the lower left corner that allows assessment of no heat situations. Specifically, I can see the igniter glowing and gas igniting, when my dryer decides it wants to work.

I've seen this peephole on the single front panel and two front panel versions of Kenmores.

My new Speed Queen dryer apparently lacks such a peep hole. Has anyone drilled a hole and used a plug to create a similar peephole? Is there a better way to inspect the burner assembly at work?

Thanks!

Speed Queen Gas Dryers

DO NOT need these silly peep holes as you can just remove the lower front panel with two screws and not only get a really good look at what is going on but you can also adjust or repair anything related to the gas burner, operating thermostat and clean the inside floor of the machine WITHOUT taking the dryer apart.

On SQ Electric dryers you can replace the heating element and safety thermostats as well through the generous access panel.
