Creda Reversair 37404

Hi Everyone,

I hope someone can help me with my creda reversair dryer.

It works ok but it wont reverse. It seems to be something to do with the reversing mechanism on the back of the drum. When i took the back off to look at it while it was running it seems that either the thread on the bar has worn or the thread on the little washer that runs along it as its not flicking the switch when it travels towards the front of the dryer. If I manually flick the switch so that it changes direction it travels away from the drum when it hits the switch on the other side the motor changes sound slightly but doesn’t change direction. If I stop the machine by say opening the door it does change.

I am not sure if its the bar / washer that has worn or if its something else.

Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone have a parts list that I could look at or borrow?

the only experience I have is in changing the micro switch, the machine had been intermittently working for quite a while, also this is an easy and cheap first thing to try, as if the drum doesn't reverse it will strip the thread, which from memory is a metal thread on the shaft and a plastic thread that travels back and forth, which I assume is the weaker part, probably by design, so maybe this would be the next part to check, (though no idea if you'd find a replacement, whereas micro switches are more or less standard) oh assuming the mechanisms are all free moving and not corroded. So whilst the micro switch may work by hand, maybe a replacement would be more responsive.

Having a mechanical mind over electronic, I think this is a lovely design, that on one hand I think 'well that won't last', but then these dryers are 40 plus years old.
