Hi all,
I'm hoping that someone will have an answer for me. I have a Cuisinart Coffeemaker the reservoir type that you put your cup under and it dispenses the coffee for you. No carafe to deal with. Anyway, after a year it quits on me. No clock, no brew nothing. A friend of mine mentioned that there may be a internal fuse that needs to be replaced. Is that true? Should I fish it out of the trash? This machine is just over a year old and it's a 100 dollar coffeemaker I hate to think that it reached it's longevity that soon. I may be breaking out the Coffeemasters after all....Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

Hamilton beach Coffee maker

Bill, I have the hamilton Beach coffee maker like yours and mine also when out after a year but I only paid 40.00 so I trashed it and it was the simple model too no clock or programs with it, But I did replace it with the Hamilton that does have ther clock and timer with it so I'm hoping this one will last longer

Warranty?

I have the Cuisinart Brew Central. I've had it for about 6yrs with no problems. It came with a 3yr warranty. You might want to check the warranty for yours before pitching it.

We have the Cuisinart Grind'n Brew, bought with points on a credit card or something. The first one blew after a few months but luckily we had an authorized repair agent in town. I took it in, they trashed it immediately and handed me a brand new one. Haven't had a problem with it so far after a few years. I like it because it keeps the coffee hot and the temp is adjustable. The grinding features a bit of a hassle cleaning each time and the overall size of the machine is a bit much. You don't have to grind beans to use it, you can just put in pre ground coffee. I wouldn't buy another one though.

After discovering that our favorite Braun or Krups coffeemakers were dying on us ($100 machines!) after a year or so we bought a Cuisinart Coffeemaker. One of the reasons was that it came with a three year warranty. We stapled the receipt to the warranty info page and put it in the cabinet above the coffeemaker. When it quits, we will be ready! But so far so good.

Thanks guys I will have to check into the warranty...Believe it or not I ran across the receipt the other day when I was looking for something else I bought at Lowes.

Great! Now that you have reciept in hand, here is the info you need for a warranty claim:

Warranty Address:
Cuisinart
150 Milford Road
East Windsor, CT 08520

(800)-726-0190

If you call them, they can direct you to a nearby Authorized Cuisinart Service Center. If you mail the coffeemaker to them, they will charge $10.00 for processing/shipping.

Let us know what happens!

Cuisinart Grind'n Brews

I have owned two Grind 'N Brews: My first was the Model DGB-300 in white. I really liked it, but it broke down in three years (right after the warranty expired - naturally). The seal over the grind motor leaked and allowed water (condensed from the steam produced during brewing) to enter the motor.

I decided to give Cuisinart one more try. I bought a DGB-600 stainless with thermal carafe. 3 years and going strong so far. This unit is not too noisy when it grinds. I have some friends who have a white one (plastic) and you can hear the grinder all the way across their fairly large house.

I love freshly brewed coffee made from freshly ground beans (I wish air freshener companies would sell "Fresh Ground Coffee" scent - I'd buy it). These makers are a little bit of a pain since you have to clean the grind portion after each use (unless you are brewing from pre-ground coffee), but they make a really good cup of java. I don't use it as much as I used too - too busy to sit back and enjoy a fresh cup - but hey, I'm not doin' anything now except watching Barrett-Jackson, so I'm gonna make some fresh ground right now.

I may be breaking out the Coffeemasters after all....

All kidding aside....My Coffeemaster has been giving constant, unwaivering sevice since the 1940's :-) 60 YEARS!!!! ( Now that I've said this...it will stop working!)

I don't see where the Coffeemaster is any more work than a Grind and Brew. Yes I've had one of those, too. I didn't like the coffe and it took up too much counter space for my liking.

I have a Capresso grind & brew that uses a "burr" type grinder rather than a blade, which the LA Times says makes a better tasting brew. I gave it to myself for a 50th birthday present. It's been doing OK, it's kind of cumbersone to use and put back together after cleaning. I mainly use it weekends only, but don't know that I'd buy another one. Doesn't seem to keep the coffee hot enough and really the best way to keep coffee is in a thermos anyway so that's what I'll be looking for when the time comes.
